If you have an army full of heavy units that may be it since they have larger health pools but I would suggest against it since they are very vulnerable to spears. I am currently 250 turns in in a Chaos campaign with two main armies around the Empire's capital and moving 75% and then encamp works fine for me(maybe Sigvald being all slaaneshi breeding like has some bonuses to that I may not have noticed), with 3 Chaos giants in the army and then mostly various types of Chosen. Running all the way back to the north to get the ally benefit is out of the question at this point. There are also magic items that can increase that percentage(and Sorcerers can help you farm magic items with their magic detection skill after each fight).
